Big Bad Baby Blanket

Remember wayyyyy back sometime ago when I started this knitty project for the nut?  Well, I’m happy to report that I’ve completed his Big Bad Baby Blanket from me!  That’s right, I finished this lovely just in time!  This has been by far the largest knitting project I’ve made and I’m very happy with how it turned out.  Now I can’t wait for our little guy to be all snuggled up in it!  If you’re interested in the details about this pattern and a play-by-play of the making of this special blankie, log into ravelry for more details.

Off to do the FO Happy Dance of Joy!:)  Whee!

39 weeks!!!

39 week belly

39 weeks!

Wow!  Here I am at 39 weeks preggers.  What a journey it’s been & check out that belly!!!  It’s freakin’ huge!  This will be the last belly pic you’ll see of me & the nut because bright & early Monday morning we’ve got a big date at the hospital to have a C-Section.  You heard me right, Monday is the BIG DAY!

So, there’s been a small change in the labor & delivery plans… you know how sometimes the best laid out plans can change?  Well… our little nut has thrown us a curve ball.  Last week, we found out that our little boy is not pointed correctly on the launch pad for exit.  He’s in a breech position.  That little stinker!  On the ultrasound, it looks like he’s sitting in my belly like he’s in a hammock just chillin’.  Maybe thinking about having a baby mojito :)  After a TON of discussion, we have decided to opt for a C-Section.  At least with the new L&D plan, I’m glad I don’t need to worry about my water breaking on aisle 3 at the grocery store or deliver the baby in the back of our car :)

Team meandering mind is sooooo very excited to finally be able to meet our little miracle in 2 days!!!  I’m so ready to hold our little boy! Stay tuned for the official baby announcement complete with pics & I’m sure an awesome story!

And… since this is the last belly pic of me & the nut, in honor of that, I put together a little slideshow of my ever expanding preggers belly.  I’m amazed at how much it grew between 16 weeks and 39.  Enjoy the show!

37 weeks!

37 week belly

37 weeks!

Here I am at 37 weeks!  I’ve reached the full term mark according to all of the books I’ve read and most importantly, what my OB says.  It doesn’t seem right calling our little man ‘the nut’ anymore; as he weighs in at a little over 6 pounds and is approximately 19 inches long according to BabyCenter.  Our little baby is already growing up!  Other exciting preggers events going on… when you look at my belly, you can see that our little wonder has dropped much lower in my pelvis.  And random people on the street love to point this out and say things like… oh my, looks like you can have that baby at any minute! Sometimes I want to reply by saying… what?  I’m not pregnant :) Hee. Hee.

I want to share with you some of the amazing things that you should know about our little wonder boy… (Yes, I will be one of those mommies that will be happy to share with you pictures, stories, and whatever else is on my meandering mind about our son… you have been warned!)

  • he loves a good kung fu kick workout.  Especially in the early morning & right after dinner time.
  • he loves music– favorite artists & groups he’s currently listening to:  U2, Coldplay, & Dave Matthews Band.  Favorite quiet time music– Dreamland.
  • he loves car rides– especially the rev-rev of the A3 engine.
  • he loves it when daddy sings funny made up songs to him.
  • and… he loves it when mommy does her funny made up Clipo, Clipo Clipo preggers belly dance (followed by singing Clipo, Clipo, Hippo really loud!) when that toy commercial airs… anyone else tired of seeing this commercial?

Amazing, huh??!!

Hubby and I are soooo ready to meet and hold our little boy!  Hopefully, it won’t be much longer!  We are beyond excited!!!

36 weeks!

March 9th, 2009

Meandering preggers has made it to 36 weeks!  Wow.  Not too much longer and our little boy will be here!!!  Now that we’re in the home stretch of this amazing journey, I thought you might be interested in the preggers happenings…

to answer the how are you feeling at 36 weeks…

Oh, my back is aching!  Just trying to find one comfortable place in the house to sit is a bit of a challenge these days.  And forget about car rides over 30 minutes.  I can’t take it; our car sits pretty low to the ground so I feel every bump in the road.  I think I’m beginning to regret a tiny bit that I didn’t do more of that ‘core strength training’ during the early stages of being preggers.  Damn hindsight! I do remind myself that this little boy is about 6 pounds and all of the weight is pretty much centered in my belly.

I know I’ve chatted about this before…You’ll hear this phrase around my house often… Hubby, can you please get me a few TUMs? I can’t even explain the amount of heartburn & indigestion I have right now.  I’m seriously thinking about strapping the container around my neck–like a feed bag of TUMs.

Overall, (minus the aching back & indigestion), I’m feeling just fine.

things that are becoming increasingly harder to do…

Tying my shoes. I’m wondering if I need to switch to slip on shoes?  I wonder if they still make those ‘old school’ Vans I had wayyyyyy back in the 80s:)?  hmmmm…

Finding my feet to put shoes on. If I’m looking directly at my BIG belly bump, I can’t see my feet!  I think they’ve been M.I.A. for about 4 weeks!  I’d love to paint my toes a pretty pink color but I can’t see my toes to put the nail polish on :(

Getting in and out of our car. (See achy, whiny back note above…) Our sporty little car is not very preggers friendly right now.  I’m sure people are laughing at me while watching me maneuver this task.  I see y’all looking at me in the Target parking lot!

Getting up after being in a lying down position on the bed or couch. Hubby has taken to calling me ‘the turtle’.  I’m sure this is pretty hilarious to watch :)

a few food craving stories…

#1- Junk food cravings are very strong! I know I’ve talked about this before– but… seriously, this is sooo out of control right now!  I am happy to report that while hubby & I were out and about last Saturday, we found my oh-so-desired Samoa Cookies!  You should have seen the smile (and I think I let out a scream of joy) when we found them!  I did use some control and only bought 3 boxes.  That’s ok, right?

#2- Last night I had a HUGE craving for a root beer float.  Luckily, we had all of the fixings to make this delicious drink.  Thank goodness!   And– I’m really looking forward to dessert tonight–homemade strawberry shortcake!  I can’t wait!!!

#3- And… I want to give a special thank you to Chuck & Amy for the box of dark chocolates that showed up in the mail last week.  What a yummy surprise!  They were delicious!  Thank you.

I also want to mention what a super star, rock star, hubby I have!  He is the best!!!  He is my biggest cheerleader of preggers support and always ready to help me out whether it be rubbing my aching back, making homemade delicious desserts I’m craving, helping me tie my shoes, helping me up if I’ve sunk too far into the couch and can’t get my turtley-self up, AND doing all of those chore type things around the house that I’m having a hard time doing.  I am so grateful and thankful for hubby!  Love him :)

Oh and… Here are some 36 week pics of my belly bump!  Enjoy!

Can I have some ice cream with my pancakes please?

34 week belly bump!

34 week belly bump

You might have heard something about how pregnant ladies have cravings during their preggers journey.  Well, I have to tell you, this feeling is very strong right now for me!  I love, love, love, anything chocolate.  Honestly, pretty much anything sugary and would probably fall in the ‘junk food’ category.  Also, there’s been some pretty weird & bizarre food items I want to eat in the same meal.  Below are some of the things heard around my kitchen table lately:

  • Can I have some ice cream with my blueberry pancakes please?
  • Is it ok if I have a few baby pickles along with my red velvet cupcake?
  • And… probably the most bizarre (or maybe disgusting) thing I’ve eaten together– Last Friday night we had linguine & clam sauce and I wanted to drink my chocolate protein drink with it!  You should have seen the look on hubby’s face! :)

One of the biggest cravings I have at the moment is my desire to eat a box of those oh-so-delicious Girl Scout Samoa Cookies.  The problem is that they seem to be sold out in my area.  I’ve been to two different places today looking for them and I get the same answer, “sorry, we’re out of those” :(  Really?  How is this possible?  Can you point out the last person that bought that coveted purple box of cookies and I’ll follow them to their car?  Maybe they’ll take pity on a pregnant lady.  Is there some sort of preggers hotline I can call to get me a box of those yummers a.s.a.p.?

celebrate good times!

February 17th, 2009

Wow!  What a week of BIG FUN I just had!  My sis and my mom flew out from SoCal to celebrate both my birthday and my baby shower.  What a treat!  I couldn’t even remember the last time we were all together for one of our birthdays… we were thinking it was my 21st; so it’s been quite awhile!!! :)  It was so much fun to have so much girlie time with them.  I really enjoyed having them here to share in all of the excitement and celebration.  Dear hubby says he wants a t-shirt that reads… “I survived estrogen fest 2009!”  We’ll see if that can be arranged ;)

A few pics from my birthday (click on the thumbnails to make pics larger)-

And check out the slideshow I’ve made of all of the baby shower FUN!  To make the slideshow bigger– Do you see all of those arrows pointing four different directions in the lower right of the slideshow screen?  Click there.  Wahhh-lahhh.  Big time slideshow.  :)  Enjoy!

knitting project in progress

Big Bad Baby Blanket- close up

This is still a very much WIP (work in progress) but I’m pretty excited about this blanket I’m working on for our little nut in the oven.  It’ll be his first knitty pressie from mommy :)  I’m almost halfway through; good time to pause and take a picture of how this lovely is shaping up.

To all of my knitter friends out there… I have to tell you, I absolutely LOVE this yarn!  So easy to work with and I love the colorway.  FYI- It’s Dream in Color Baby.  You can also read more about the progress of how this Big Bad Baby Blanket is coming along in my projects page on ravelry.

31 weeks

February 1st, 2009

Here we are at 31 weeks!  Wow!  I really can’t believe how fast the time has gone.  My preggers appointments are now every other week and when I hit the 35 week mark it’s every week to see the doc until little man makes his big entrance!  Everywhere I go people are asking me how I’m doing… I’m actually feeling just fine.  I eat like a horse, my energy level is pretty good, and I’m loving feeling our little guy move about it my tummy!  :)  It’s the greatest!  Oh, and… hubby has even felt the nut; he felt a pretty good kick-a-roo the other night.  Pretty exciting!

Since it seems like my belly is growing by the minute, my plan is to have hubby take a pic of me and the nut weekly up until delivery time.  Here are a couple of pics of us taken in our backyard this afternoon.

31 weeks!

I’m off to watch the Super Bowl! Hubby and I have made a few friendly wagers to make things interesting… here’s what my $ is on:

-Steelers to win… and I’ve even given 7 points to hubby to start, yes– I’m that confident!

-Cards win coin toss

-Steelers for the first passing touchdown

-Cards for the first rushing touchdown

-Over/Under Bet- I’m saying under by 46 1/2 points

Wish me luck!!!

23 week preggers update

December 10th, 2008

Cute little face pics

23 weeks- face

23 weeks- face close up

Yesterday we had our 5th visit to our most awesome baby doctor (I really can’t say enough great things about her; happy she’s part of team meandering delivery!)  She says our little man is doing super fantastic.  He weighes in at 1 lb, 6 oz; according to BabyCenter he’s about the size of a mango this week.  We got to hear his little heart; it’s beating around 145 BPM.  And, we got to do another ultrasound, which was great because we got more pics.  Check out the pics above… I know, I know, you have to use a little imagination to see his little face.  But I think it’s pretty cute! :)

As for meandering mommy… things are just fine in the preggers department.  I have an incredible appetite now– if I’m not dreaming about our little guy then my thoughts are pretty much consumed by food :)  I keep thinking, is that ok? And… I have finally started to feel the nut ‘fluttering’ about.  It’s very exciting!!!  No kicking yet; just a butterfly kinda feel.  I love it!

I do have something to whine about… preggers has a COLD.  It was bound to happen.  Hubby was sick last week, and the week before when we had our family visting for the gobble, gobble holiday, one family member brought us this lovely present that just keeps on giving (or should I say sucking the energy from you!  It’s bad enough that the nut has pretty much eaten my brain; now with this cold, what am I’m I gonna do?)  Thank you very much for this early present (don’t worry, you haven’t been transferred to my naughty list :) )  I’m not a very good sicky patient when I’m not preggers BUT being sick and preggers… Ugh!  I basically just have to suck it up until this cold goes away.  I’m thinking about strapping a kleenex box to my face and my throat is so sore (whine, whine, whine).  I can’t take any of those ‘good meds’.  No Nyquil for me.  I know, I know… this too shall pass. I just want this cold to hurry up and go away already!

Off to make some hot tea and settle in for some TiVo watching.  sniff, sniff!
